With over 20 years of experience in races such as Rally Raid and 15 presences in the Paris Dakar Rally, still as unbroken second, Gianni is one of the 10 top drivers in the World for this speciality, and he is besides the Italian Driver who has obtained by far the best result in the overall ranking, in the most grueling race race which ends at the shores of the “Lac Rose” in Senegal. No other Italian driver up to now has been able to do better than him who is nowadays one of the most experienced Italian and International Drivers concerning the great African Rally Raids. He can claim a wide experience on the African soil and on different types of gravel, sand and hard tracks which you can find when you race this kind of races. Besides all this Gianni is also an excellent technician and he knows carefully the mechanics of vehicles, which is extremely important if you want to take part in the Paris—Dakar Rally and in  races of this kind. In twenty years of experience he has had the opportunity to cooperate with different WRC Teams for the preparation and the tests concerning the Rally Safari in Kenia (Toyota TTE and Subaru Prodrive), and taking part as Chase Car in a Toyota  Celica ST205 GR.A.

He has taken part in 15 editions of the Paris-Dakar Rally getting high value results such as the 8° overall final classification in 2002 Paris-Dakar with the Official Mitsubishi Ralliart Team. He is excellent at driving using the satellite global position system, he has been cooperating with developement of cars for the Paris-Dakar Rally. 15 time at the Paris-Dakar rally, the best Italian Driver with the best result by far. Ranked  the fourteenth in the Dakar 1999 with Nissan France Dessoude Team, in a Nissan Patrol GR T3 (Ranked the sixth in the group of FIA Petrol Engine Protoype Cars 4x4).Team partner of Stephane Petrhansel.

Ranked the fifth in the Tunisia Rally 2002 with the Mitsubishi Ralliart Official Team. Ranked the third in the Marathon Petrol 4x4 category in the grueling Paris-Sirte-Cape Town 1992 with Nissan France Dessoude Team with Nissan Terrano T1 V6 . Ranked the eight in the Dakar 2002 with Mitsubishi Ralliart Official Team in a Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero 3.200cc. DID (The second in the group of Superproduction Turbo Diesel 4x4 Cars). Team partner of  France Ski Downhill World Cup Champion’s Luc Alphand. A fourth, a seventh and eight best time scratch in the most grueling sandy stage in Mauritania (Zouerat-Atar,Tichit-Tichit, etc.). In the 2003 he cooperated with Mitsubishi Motorsport in development tests, (Chateau Lastours, and Morocco), concerning the Pajero/Montero Evolution car, both in the MPR 10 version (Nani Roma), and MPR 11 version (Stephane Peterhansel).

He has been cooperating with Volskwagen Motorsport GMBH for their development tests of the new Race Touareg TDI version 2006. Moreover Gianni Lora Lamia cooperates with the Sports TV network “Eurosport Live”, for the live commentaries about the Paris-Dakar Rally 2005 and the other races of the Fia World Cup for Cross Country Rally 2005 and 2006, in the TV studios together with Andrea Nicoli.

In the year 2005 he will be a tester for Michelin for all the tyres designed for the Official Teams taking part in the Rally Raid Championship and the Paris-Dakar program. For all the season 2005/2006 Gianni will work as an istructor for Porsche Italy, in the driving courses Porsche Driving School for the Cayenne an the Cayenne S Biturbo cars. For the season 2005, he takes part  in six races of Fia World Cup for Cross Country Rally.
